Scholarships and bursaries

Commonwealth citizens can benefit from a wealth of funding support in the form of scholarships, bursaries and grants.

British Academy/ACU Grants for International Collaboration 
(Association of Commonwealth Universities)

Grants are available for advanced research, at postdoctoral or equivalent level or beyond in the fields of the humanities and social sciences. Awards will not be made retrospectively; applications must be made in time for them to be considered well before the research is due to begin.  Participants must be on the staff of a university in membership of the ACU at the time of application.

 

Canada Memorial Foundation Scholarships 
(Association of Commonwealth Universities)

The awards are intended for persons of high academic promise and leadership potential who will play a full part in the life of the Canadian community which they visit and who will return to contribute fully to UK society. Candidates must be UK citizens and hold, or expect to attain, a minimum of an upper second class degree.
 

 

ACU Titular Fellowships
(Association of Commonwealth Universities)

Nominees when applying must be on the staff of, or a nominee of, a university in membership of ACU or of a Commonwealth inter-university organisation; or working in industry, commerce or public service in a Commonwealth country

 

ACU Scholarships Programme in Business and Management 
(Association of Commonwealth Universities)

The programme is intended for people currently working in non-academic management positions (including research management, finance, registry) within ACU member universities in developing Commonwealth countries.

This award is open to applicants from small states in the Commonwealth only.  Please see our List of Small States for reference
 

 

ACU Scholarships Programme in Human Resource Management 
(Association of Commonwealth Universities)

The programme is intended for people currently working in Human Resources or Personnel departments in ACU member universities in developing Commonwealth countries
 

 

ACU Scholarships Programme in Public Relations and Communications 
(Association of Commonwealth Universities)

The programme is intended for administrative or related staff currently employed by ACU member universities in developing Commonwealth countries who wish to develop their skills in media, public relations or marketing.
 

 

Edward Boyle Memorial Trust Medical Elective Bursaries 
(Association of Commonwealth Universities)
Their purpose is to enable medical students in Britain to gain, during their elective period, practical experience in developing Commonwealth countries.  Applicants must be medical students in the UK
 



The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is an international programme under which member governments offer scholarships and fellowships to citizens of other Commonwealth countries. These include:

Postgraduate and Undergraduate Scholarships
Fellowships for mid-career professionals and  mid-career academics 

 

   

British Chevening Scholarships
The Chevening programme, has, over 26 years, provided more than 30,000 Scholarships at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the UK for postgraduate students or researchers from countries across the world.
 

   

Commonwealth Countries League Education Fund
CCL Education Fund sponsors bright girls in need to give them equal opportunities for secondary/high school education in their own countries
 

   

Commonwealth Broadcasting Association Bursaries
The CBA offers a number of bursaries to staff of member organisations to enhance their skills and knowledge. Calls for entries are published on their website. These include:
