Greening the Commonwealth

Primary school girls at the 2009 People's Space, Trinidad and Tobago

With Climate change high on the agenda, Friends Trinidad and Tobago is Greening the Commonwealth with their fruit-tree-freebies - all indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago.

The community-led environment project encourages students from primary schools across Trinidad and Tobago to plant trees in their schools - the target is for 60 schools to grow 60 trees in each.

The aim of the project is to raise awareness about climate change and promote the conservation of rare fruit trees amongst young people - involving them from a young age on the issues that will determine their futures. Over 32 schools have already joined the scheme, and Friends would like to involve you.
